That\u2019s why (and because you deserve it), we wanted to write a very special post mentioning some of the best villages to visit in the north of Almeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>Let\u2019s begin!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll start off our list of recommendations with one of the loveliest villages in Almeria, <strong>V\u00e9lez Blanco<\/strong>. It\u2019s a place with some of the most well-known monuments in the region such as the <strong>Fajardo Castle<\/strong> and the <strong>Letreros Cave<\/strong> (Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s all accompanied by incredible panoramic views and natural scenery for a quick getaway or a nice hike with family, friends or alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to get completely lost among Levante\u2019s natural areas, <strong>Nijar <\/strong>couldn\u2019t be left off this list. It\u2019s home to the most spectacular landscape in this part of the country: <strong>Cabo de Gata Natural Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also find <strong>Almanzora Valley (Valle del Almanzora) <\/strong>here, an excellent way to get to know a different kind of Almeria. 27 villages set among unique landscapes with all sorts of hiking routes can be found throughout this territory in addition to the Seron Observatory, a digital planetarium featuring the latest technology for activities the whole family will enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for something else quite unique, it\u2019s the perfect time to head over to the <strong>Tabernas Desert<\/strong>. Located between the Sierra de los Filabres and the Sierra de Alhamilla mountains, it is considered the only real desert on the European continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Culture, nature and local gastronomy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Following these three recommendations are some of the most outstanding villages in our region. <strong>Carboneras<\/strong> offers a pleasant rural environment which has changed it from a discreet fishing village to a first-class tourist centre with everything one would want from a Mediterranean coastal town: good gastronomy, spacious beaches and nature like nowhere else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then there\u2019s <strong>Lucainena de las Torres<\/strong>, a village set among high mountains with an incredible history due to its Roman Empire origins. However, if you\u2019re looking for something more \u201cgastronomic\u201d, we recommend a visit to Ser\u00f3n.&nbsp; This town specializes in traditional artisan products like ham and cured meats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And to finish off the list, we\u2019d like to mention the marble museum in <strong>Macael <\/strong>and the colourful walk along the old quarry. In the neighbouring village of Olula del R\u00edo, you absolutely can\u2019t miss the <strong>P\u00e9rez Siquier Centre<\/strong>, featuring the work of one of the most renowned Spanish photographers, and the <strong>Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez Museum<\/strong> where you can admire paintings by Goya, Antonio L\u00f3pez, Zuloaga, Pinazo and others as well as sculptures, photography and artisan work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also visit the <strong>Fortress of the Sun (Fortaleza del Sol)<\/strong>, the <strong>Lorca<\/strong> castle which offers an immense panoramic view of the surrounding area and gardens for some relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s also a castle called <strong>San Juan de las \u00c1guilas<\/strong> in the village of <strong>\u00c1guilas<\/strong> (Murcia) with spectacular coastal views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now all you have to do is start organizing your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Come back soon for another AquaVera post!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At AquaVera, we\u2019re quite proud of our area and our people.
